ABOUT US

Songcatchers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has provided accessible, affordable, and high-quality music education and experiences to children and families for over 40 years. Our programs bring music into children's lives, fostering a lifelong appreciation of the arts. Leadership development is a hallmark of all Songcatchers programs; youth serve as aides, instructors and counselors, and are mentored by professional musicians and music educators. Our goal of "Reaching for Peace Through Music" is realized with the belief that all children deserve the chance to learn music and to see the beauty of each other through the arts.

Songcatchers' After-School Music Program began in 1997 with 35 children, 4 instruments, and 8 volunteer instructors. We currently provide over 100 lessons weekly to children on 12 instruments with the help of 60 volunteer instructors and 8 professional mentors. Some students have continued their musical studies in both high school and college, often returning to Songcatchers to teach the next generation. Instructors, too, have pursued careers in music education, citing their experience at Songcatchers as what started their passion for teaching.

Help us to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the After-School Music Program with a donation to Songcatchers! Your gift will help us continue to provide this much-needed experience to children who may not otherwise have this opportunity.
